THE Makati City government shut down a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) firm for not having a business permit and for violating community quarantine protocols. On Monday night, Makati police arrested 50 Chinese and a Burmese who were illegally operating in a POGO firm at J. Victor St., Barangay Pio del Pilar. According to City Police Chief Oscar Jacildo, POGO workers of Hua Xin POGO company were caught engaged in online gambling activities in their cramped living quarters. They were charged with resistance and disobedience to persons in authority (Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code) in relation to Executive Order 11, outlining the general community guidelines in Makati City. The suspects also face charges of violation of Presidential Decree 1602 (anti-gambling law) and Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
