Met Éireann issued a Status Orange rainfall warning for Wicklow and Waterford, which will be in force until 3am tomorrow. The impact of near-record rainfall levels has been exacerbated by high spring tides and a lingering storm surge. National Emergency Co-ordination Group (NECG) chairman Keith Leonard said areas covered by Met Éireann rainfall alerts were at serious risk of flooding. “The Rivers Nore, Barrow, Slaney and Liffey will see their catchment areas receive very high rainfall levels,” he said.
