Major development planned for derelict building

Plans for a major development at a derelict building in Castlerea are set to be lodged shortly, according to a local councillor. Fianna Fáil councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice said that the development would consist of the refurbishment of the derelict Hanly Hall on Patrick Street along with a large extension to the rear of the building. "We spent our youth playing badminton and snooker in the Hanly Hall with many happy memories. In 2024, the Brothers of Charity services had developed plans to refurbish and convert Hanly Hall into day services or a micro enterprise/office space. Built in 1908, Hanly Hall originally served as a national school.
