Maj Gen Md Nazimuddin, currently General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 55 Infantry Division and Jessore area commander, will take over the chief of general staff (CGS) role. Maj Gen Md Saiful Abedin, now commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), will be the new director general of the powerful military intelligence DGFI, succeeding Maj Gen Mohammad Akbar Hossain. Maj Gen Akbar will leave DGFI after a four-year stint at the 14-storey building at Dhaka Cantonment’s Kanchukhet. He is now the GOC of 9th Infantry Division and commander of Savar area. The division’s former GOC, Maj Gen Waqar Ujjaman, has been made military secretary of the Bangladesh Army, a role previously held by Maj Gen Abdullahil Baki.
