The huge funding boost means that work will commence next month on the dual-carriageway, completing the ring road around Lincoln. The relief road has been on the cards since 2005, with a long planning process and a pause as the new Labour government reviewed all planned spending. Councillor Sean Matthews, the Reform leader of Lincolnshire County Council, said: “This is a huge milestone for the project. New roundabouts would be built at South Hykeham Road, Brant Road and Grantham Road.
