Mailiao plant coal-fired generators to resumeBy Lisa Wang / Staff reporterTaiwan Power Co (Taipower, 台電) yesterday said it plans to resume operations at two coal-fired power generators for three months to boost security of electricity supply as liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply risks are running high due to the Middle East conflict. The two coal-fired power generators are at Mailiao Power Plant in Yunlin County’s Mailiao Township (麥寮). Formosa Plastics Group’s Mailiao Power Plant is pictured in Yunlin County’s Mailiao Township in an undated photograph. 3 coal-fired generators from next month through July, a Taipower spokesperson said by telephone yesterday. Taipower said that the short-term activation of the two coal-fired generators at Mailiao Power Plant would not significantly boost its total coal consumption this year.
