Mahindra unit bags contract from Airbus


more-inMahindra Aerostructures, a part of Mahindra Aerospace, has bagged a contract from Airbus to manufacture and supply components made of hard metals (aerospace steel, titanium and Inconel) for A320neo & A350XWB aircraft. This is the first time that Airbus has awarded work directly to Mahindra Aerostructures, according to the company. Mahindra Aerostructures will execute the work together with France based Segnere SAS, which has several years of experience working with hard metals and supplies components directly to Airbus. “Products will be delivered directly to Airbus facilities in Europe from India and France, thereby providing Airbus an optimum mix of cost structures and logistics flexibility,” Mahindra Aerostructures said in a statement. Dr. Srinivasan Dwarakanath, president, Commercial Aircraft at Airbus India said this contract is a part of the company’s strategy to source more components from India.
