The government on Monday decided to ban the export of all onion varieties, which has led to Lasalgaon, Nashik, Maharashtra, farmers coming out on the streets to protest against the central government's ban on the export. "The export of all varieties of onions is prohibited with immediate effect," the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification. The best quality onion at Rs 2800 per quintal and the lowest quality onion at Rs 1100 per quintal.
