A magnitude 4.9 earthquake shook Riverside County on Monday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered seven miles from Indio. The temblor was quickly followed by several aftershocks, at magnitudes 3.3, 3.4 and 2.9, according to the USGS.
