New Zealand has been rocked by a magnitude 4.8 earthquake as hundreds of Kiwis report feeling shakes. Within 20 minutes, more than 1600 people had reported feeling the earthquake on the GeoNet website, with 37 nearby residents saying the shakes were 'strong'. A 4.8 magnitude earthquake rocked New Zealand's North Island at 12.23pm local time on ThursdayMotuoapa local Matt West said his walls were shaking and he had to grab his television. A second 3.8 magnitude quake struck nearby almost an hour later, 20km north-east of Tūrangi, at the same depth. One woman said the 4.8 earthquake was the fifth she had felt since the early hours of Thursday morning.
