MANILA, Philippines — After two years of tenure atop the Los Angeles Lakers front office, Magic Johnson has stepped down as the team's president of basketball operations on Tuesday (Wednesday Manila time). Magic Johnson has stepped down from President of Basketball Ops of the Lakers. Johnson's departure comes at the heels of rumors surrounding Lakers head coach Luke Walton's job security. The Lakers are nearing the end of a disappointing season that saw LeBron James miss the playoffs for the first time since 2008. Johnson had failed to close any significant deals this season that would've given James help on the Lakers offense.
