Maersk Orders Six Container Ships That Can Run on Methanol

Moller-Maersk said Monday that it has placed an order with Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for six mid-sized container vessels with dual-fuel engines that are able to operate on green methanol. They will be delivered from 2026, with last delivery in March 2027, and the ships will replace existing capacity in the Maersk fleet. "As with all our other vessel orders for the last two years, these ships will be able to run on green methanol." In 2021, Maersk ordered the first methanol-enabled container vessel as part of its commitment to only order new vessels that can sail on green fuels. It now has 25 methanol-enabled vessels on order.
