Hundreds of students of the tribal hostel in Ratlam have threatened to not eat food till the government reverses its decision to provide only rice at various tribal, Scheduled caste and Other Backward class hostels in the state. The students on Friday took to streets and demanded immediate reversal of the government's decision that prohibited supply of wheat to hostels in the state. Madhya Pradesh government on May 28 issued an order to all district collectors in the state saying only rice would be provided to all the SC/ST and OBC hostels from December 2016 to May 2017. The state government in its order quoted the Union government letter 4-7/2016 BP-11 SC/ST/OBC that informed the government about allocation of 3,115 tonnes of rice for various hostels across the state.
