Madeleine vanished from Portugal in 2007, with German prisoner Christian Brueckner now named as prime suspect. The area that police are reportedly searching is close to where Brueckner, currently imprisoned, lived. Police are also said to have been searching the Linden branch channel, reports German news site Haz.de. Brueckner is alleged to have had a 30-minute phone call outside the apartment building shortly before she went missing. German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters previously said a phone allegedly used by Brueckner pinged on a mast at the Ocean Club complex.
