In an attempt to save its endangered wildlife, Madagascar is banning illegal rosewood trade. Used to build traditional Chinese furniture, rosewood is one of the world’s most widely traded products. In a recent statement, newly appointed Environment Minister Alexandre Georget declared that rosewood trade is no longer allowed. Rosewood trade and political corruptionWhile rosewood trade is mostly an environmental issue, it also happens to be a political one. This goes to show that the fight against rosewood trade won’t be easy.
