Mad skillsLearning all aspects of the fashion industry—from designing to styling to selling—is the goal of DLS-CSB studentsNothing happens until the cash register rings. Unlike most fashion design and merchandising courses offered in other schools, students at DLS-CSB are exposed to both the business and creative sides of fashion. “By tradition, all schools offering fashion design courses require their graduating students to stage a fashion show,” said Tan-Gan, chair of DLS-CSB’s Fashion Design and Merchandising Program. “Merchandising is the business side of fashion, while fashion design and styling are part of its creative side,” said Tan-Gan. In the school’s textile course, for instance, students are taught to adopt these crafts and combine them with their designs.
