Macron's party on track for dominant win in French parliament

Macron's party, La République en Marche, and its centrist ally won 355 of the 577 seats at the National Assembly after the second and final round of voting, according to projections based on a partial count of the votes by Ipsos Sopra-Steria. The victory for the staunchly pro-Europe movement undercuts nationalist forces that had appeared ascendant in the wake of the U.K.'s vote last year to leave the EU. The Socialists of former President François Hollande went from being a majority party to the edge of oblivion, notching 48 seats. The center-right Les Républicains and an ally finished a distant second to Macron's party, with projections showing they only won 128 seats. -William Horobin ; 415-439-6400; AskNewswires@dowjones.com(END) Dow Jones Newswires06-18-17 1613ETCopyright (c) 2017 Dow Jones & Company, Inc.
