Detectives are investigating the murder of a police officer whose body was found in a trench in Athi River, Machakos County. Officials said the slain officer had gone to a nearby shop from his workstation never to return. According to police, the 58-year-old officer was last seen leaving his station at around 9 pm on Thursday. He was due to retire in a year, his colleagues said and described him as a humble and dedicated officer. Most of the incidents are linked to trauma out of their work, officials say amid efforts to address the worrying trend.
