Mac Neil wins Canada’s first medal at worlds – Swimming Canada

FUKUOKA, Japan – Margaret Mac Neil of London, Ont., won Canada’s first swimming medal at the World Aquatic Championships Monday with the silver in the women’s 100-metre butterfly. Yufei Zhang of China made a late charge in the final metres to overtake Mac Neil and win the gold in 56.12. “Honestly I’m more happy with the placement than the time,’’ said Mac Neil, the event’s Olympic champion in Tokyo and world champion in 2019. So overall I’m really happy with the decisions that I made. “I really wanted to get a second swim so that’s a little bit disappointing,’’ she said.
