Mabrook Oil Operations chairman detained pending case over US$ 2 million contract

The Attorney General’s Office announced Thursday that it had detained the Chairman of Mabrouk Oil Operations Company, pending the case. The Mabrook chairman is accused of signing a technical support contract with a specialised foreign company for US$ 2 million even though he was advised that the technical support was not needed. The Attorney General’s Office reported that the investigator had inferred that the Mabrook chairman had ignored the recommendation of the Oil Reservoir Engineering Consultant, by deliberately concluding a technical support contract worth US$ 2 million despite his knowledge of the specialists’ recommendation. This, the Attorney General’s Office said led to financial damage to Mabrook Oil Operations as a result of paying the price of the contract despite the absence of the need for the contract. Thus, the investigator ended up detaining the accused pending the case.
