MWSS delays water rate increasehome/News/Nation/MWSS delays water rate increaseThe Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) has announced the postponement of the scheduled water rate adjustment for the third quarter pending the assumption of office of the newly appointed administrator. The water tariff adjustment was supposed to take effect on July 1. For the second quarter, the agency announced a tariff reduction of P0.07 per cubic meter for Maynilad and P0.31 per cubic meter for Manila Water. Sought for comment, Manila Water spokesman Jeric Sevilla Jr. said the Ayala-led firm would await the official announcement from the agency. Earlier this month, President Rodrigo Duterte appointed retired general Ricardo Morales as a member of the MWSS Board of Trustees, replacing Reynaldo Velasco as MWSS vice chairman.
