Share TweetBy Lee ChipongianWater services regulator, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), has approved the rate hikes of both Maynilad Water Services Inc. and Manila Water Co. by P1.48 per cu.m and P0.64 per cu.m, respectively, to take effect next month. This is after the MWSS made adjustments to inflation of P1.95 for Maynilad and P1.54 for Manila Water. As for Manila Water customers, they will shell out P3.34 more for 10 cu.m or less per month. Earlier, the MWSS approved Manila Water’s proposal for a staggered five-year rate hike under a rate rebasing scheme which is a review of past performance and projection of future cash flows.
