Thursday morning commute for some 540 passengers of a southbound MRT-3 train turned more difficult after they were unloaded at the line’s Cubao station after the train conked out from an electrical motor failure. According to the MRT-3 management, the passengers were unloaded from the train at the Cubao station at 6:24 a.m. The passengers were then allowed to board on the next train that arrived some five minutes later. ADVERTISEMENTThe line’s management said worn-out electrical sub-components of the motor such as the main chopper, regulator, and insulator caused the failure. As of 8 a.m., 14 trains were operational on the line with headway or the waiting time between two trains estimated at 7.5 minutes, the MRT-3 management reported.
