MPs question cycling chief's Jonny Clay huge pay-off

One of British Cycling's most senior executives, Jonny Clay, is being sacked with a six-figure pay-off as his Director of Cycling post is axed as part of a governing body reshuffle. He was promoted in early 2017 as part of what were supposed to be significant structural long-term reforms of BC. A BC statement announcing Clay will leave in May was opaque about the specific reasons, saying it came as part of a process announcing three new BC posts: Integrity and Compliance Director, Cycling Delivery Director and Strategy Director. The BC statement about structuring omitted that Clay was being forced and that he was getting money to leave. It quoted Harrington saying he 'has played an extraordinary role in cycling in this country – as a rider, volunteer and, for the last 17 years.'
