Lawmakers have embarked on a fresh bid to be supplied with laptops for their virtual committee meetings. “Members preferred laptops to iPads for the virtual meetings,” the committee chaired by Sinyalu MP Justus Kizito said. MPs further want to be trained on the new system and the virtual meetings' etiquette before the ICT platform is commissioned. MPs were also told that committee clerks had been provided laptops, which they use to host virtual sittings of the committees. The Joe Mucheru-led ICT ministry, in its response to Parliament on the bid for a virtual meetings platform, reported that there was no readily available ICT platform to facilitate virtual sittings of the House.
