MPs crank up pressure on CBK over Sh1m rule


MPs yesterday summoned Central Bank Governor Patrick Njoroge over his failure to implement the law which would bar CBK from obtaining personal information of people transacting more that Sh1 million. MPs are fired up following the CBK boss’ assertion that the provisions of Section 33c are not implementable. He is expected to appear before the Implementation Committee on February 12. Uasin Gishu Woman MP Gladys Shollei said the CBK governor cannot create his own law. The chair of implementation committee Moitalel ole Kenta said: “The CBK governor is trying to undermine the authority of parliament.
