KUALA LUMPUR: Low-cost carrier, AirAsia Bhd, has clarified that the claim by member of Paliament (MP), Bung Moktar Radin, was untrue. In a statement, Chief Executive Officer, Aireen Omar, said the airline continually strove to offer low fares and this included its Kuala Lumpur-Sandakan service. “The claim that a one-way flight for the cost RM2,000 is completely untrue because the average fare is RM213. “The rakyat in Sandakan are being forced to pay the same airport tax as travellers who use Kuala Lumpur International Airport for far inferior services,” she saiD. Aireen said AirAsia practised an open policy and welcomed any MP who would like to collaborate to further develop and grow the tourism and travel industry.
