He sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's personal initiative to import onion from India. Nasim also criticised Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi for saying that onion price was unlikely to come down below Tk100 per kg anytime soon. Meanwhile, Commerce Secretary Jafar Uddin yesterday told UNB that onion prices would not start falling to previous levels before the first week of December. He said the price went up as arrival of local onions in the market was delayed by 20-25 days. “The prices will likely go down after local onions enter the market.”
