The snake has been formally identified as a non-venomous juvenile male carpet python with no risk of reproduction. He said the pattern is strongly suggestive of a young coastal carpet python from Queensland or northern New South Wales. The snake was found on a construction site in Papakura yesterday where contractors were flushing out a new pipe.
