MP calls national dialogue to varsity killingsMachakos County Women Representative Joyce Kamene has called for an urgent national dialogue to address the rising cases of killings in the institutions of higher learning.Kamene said incidences of murders and unexplained killings in colleges and universities in the country had reached alarming rates which must be dealt with forthwith. “We need an urgent national dialogue to address the menace of increased killings and violence against female students in our institutions of higher learning. Most importantly, we need to embrace measures beyond legislative policies including counseling in order to tame this problem,” she said. She said the trend of killings of young university students in the country depicts a society that has taken the wrong footing in shaping moral values of the future generation. “We are losing young and brilliant youth to unexplained killings, mainly in our universities and colleges and we must do everything possible to reverse the trend,” she said.
