Aspirant Steve Kewa accused the first-term MP of threatening to "take action including death and eliminate me from the race". Police want Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi to record a statement over claims he threatened a rival with death. "The MP called me after I had talked to two friends who accompanied me to a harambee on Saturday. Kewa recorded his statement at the diplomatic police unit at Gigiri police station under OB number 13/09/08/2016. He accused us of tainting his image during the harambee at Kipkinyua SDA church and went on to issue death threats," he claimed.
