Residents of Nandi-hills poured into the streets of the town to celebrate MP Alfred Keter's win in the UDA primaries held on Tuesday. Keter trounced his closest rival Bernard Kitur in an election that saw a group of leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto gang up against him. Nandi Hills is one of the regions where the UDA party enjoys massive support. Deputy President William Ruto's signature campaign slogan "hatupangwingwi" dominated the celebrations as residents, MP Keter chanted it all through. They said their vote was in protest of "outsiders" who wanted to hand-pick for them their MP.
