Industrialist Maidul, 75, was elected six times as an MP from the Kurigram-3 constituency and member of the cabinet during Ziaur Rahman and HM Ershad rules. His younger brother Tanvirul Islam told bdnews24.com that he died around 11:40pm on Thursday at the United Hospital. Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury also wrote a condolence message. He will be buried at the Banani graveyard after namaz-e-janaza at the South Plaza of the National Parliament and Gulshan mosque on Sunday. He joined Ziaur Rahman’s cabinet in 1979 and Ershad’s cabinet in 1985.
