Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot is soon expected to make efforts to include the Chakliya community in the Scheduled Caste list. Raghavan, MP, has said that Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot will soon make efforts to include the Chakliya community in the Scheduled Caste list. On a petition by Mr. Raghavan, the Minister had agreed to take it up with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The Chakliya community had migrated to the State from Andhra Pradesh before Independence. The 40,000-strong community is mostly engaged in the removal of solid waste.
