MOVEE Political Threatens To Complain To ECOWAS Court -

Dr. Joseph Mills Jones, the political leader of the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) one of the main presidential contenders being restrained by the Code of Conduct, is reportedly contemplating going to the ECOWAS Court in Abuja to seek redress. A stalwart of his Party (MOVEE) who declaimed to be named for fear of political backlash, told a local daily that the political leader of the Party and other officials are expected to depart for Nigeria this to institute a lawsuit against the Liberian government. “The intent is to reverse or overturn the Supreme Court of Liberia decision and enable our standard bearer to take part in the October 10 polls,” the official said. The insider said the “High Court’s backing of the Code of Conduct was politically motivated and intended to witch hunt” a potential presidential winner of the ensuing election and the opposition blocs in general. “If Abuja (ECOWAS Court) fails us then we could head to Washington where Jones has lots of contacts that will make Monrovia to change gear because we do not want the repeat of another round of violence here,” the source noted.
