In a statement, MOL President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Junichiro Ikeda said the three MOL Group vessels were the LNG-fueled tugboat Ishin and ferries Sunflower Kurenai and Sunflower Murasaki. The Ishin, the first LNG-fueled ship of MOL, has started building a solid track record as the first LNG-fueled tugboat serving Osaka Bay. MOL promoted the wider use of LNG as a marine fuel, being a forerunner in the trend towards LNG-fueled ships. The end of 2022 would see the launch of the Sunflower Kurenai and Sunflower Murasaki. “The group continually develops technologies for LNG-fueled ships and strives to reduce the environmental impact of its operations, “ MOL said.
