MNRE: MNRE and NTPC to launch Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus project in Leh: MNRE Secy, Energy News, ET EnergyWorld


New Delhi: The ministry of new and renewable energy ( MNRE ) in collaboration with NTPC Ltd is gearing up to launch a Hydrogen fuel cell-based bus project in the union territory of Leh , MNRE secretary Anand Kumar said. "MNRE and NTPC propose to launch a pilot Fuel Cell Bus Transformation project in an effort to make Leh carbon-neutral," Kumar said after chairing an expert meeting on Hydrogen-Mission on 19th February. The secretary had invited industry and other stakeholders for their suggestions for drafting the policy on Hydrogen Mission On January 17th this year, speaking at India Energy Forum - Renewable Energy Summit, he had said: "We are trying to set up a hydrogen mission. "Later in January, the MNRE secretary met an Italian delegation to discuss new opportunities for collaboration and potential investment projects in the fields of hydrogen, fuel cells and electrolszers. Last year, Home minister Amit Shah said that development plans entailing total investments of Rs 50,000 crore in power, solar energy, education and tourism sectors are in the pipeline for the newly-created UT.
