MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has been placed on "blue alert" for the possible onslaught of typhoon "Ompong" (international name Mangkhut). Around 700 personnel from different MMDA offices will be on standby for possible deployment. MMDA Chair Danilo Lim, also concurrent chair of the Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, ordered the deployment of disaster responders. Lim also urged the 17 local government units in Metro Manila to implement disaster preparedness measures, the MMDA said in a statement. The MMDA has set up emergency stations on EDSA-Roxas Boulevard, EDSA-Ortigas, EDSA-Orense, EDSA-Timog, C5-Libis, Commonwealth-Tandang Sora and Nagtahan.
