MIQ hotel staffer sacked after bedroom 'encounter' with quarantine returnee

The Grand Millennium Hotel in Auckland was the scene of a bedroom ‘encounter’ between a worker and an isolating returnee on January 7. An employee at a managed isolation hotel in Auckland has been sacked after a 20-minute “encounter” in the bedroom of a returnee in isolation. The incident happened when the hotel staff member went to make a delivery to the returnee’s room. There is absolutely no room for complacency for those inside our managed isolation and quarantine facilities. “The actions of this individual worker are not reflective of the more than 4000 people working in the 32 Managed Isolation and Quarantine facilities across the country.
