MGH operates container train service from Kolkata to Benapole

Facilitated by mgX (India and Bangladesh), a subsidiary of MGH Group, CONCOR has operated the first Container Train which started from CONCOR’s terminal at Majerhat on July 25 and reached Benapole the next day. Train service between the two countries finally came to fruition after a lengthy pursuit by both the governments, CONCOR & Indian Railways, Indian Customs, Bangladesh Railways, CCBL and MGH. “I would like to express my appreciation for the support that MGH has provided in execution of the first ever container train service for exports from India to Bangladesh,” said Sachit Dhawan of Proctor & Gamble. “Operating the first train with 50 containers within 48 hours was a remarkable achievement of team MGH at both the sides of the border, where support from Kolkata Customs, CONCOR Kolkata and Benapole Land Port and Benapole Customs was immense,” said Himanshu Pant, chief operating officer, MGH India. mgX plans to operate one weekly train with 60 TEUs on every Saturday from Majerhat to Benapole.
