KUALA LUMPUR: MCA Youth chief Datuk Chong Sin Woon (pic) on Saturday scoffed at Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for "staging a show" when he gave out funds to Chinese primary schools in the state. Chong, also Deputy Education Minister, said Lim had announced an allocation of RM4.09mil for 85 schools in the state and had given out cheques to the schools' representatives at an event on Jan 18. There were no cheques inside,” Chong claimed, adding that some of the schools have yet to receive the allocations as of March 1. On an earlier criticism from Lim for calling the Federal government "slower than a tortoise" when distributing RM50mil in special allocation to Chinese primary schools nationwide, Chong said the Penang government was also slow in giving out the funds. He urged Lim to stop politicising education issues, adding that it did not help in the development of Chinese education.
