PUTRAJAYA: Incidents of corruption and power abuse among civil servants are alarming, which is why the country’s anti-graft body is seeking the cooperation of department heads to weed out the menace within the public service. MACC chief Datuk Seri Azam Baki said the numbers are quite telling as to how serious the problem is. “Another concern is that corruption and power abuse are likely to cause leakages to government funds. “With better cooperation from heads of department, it will make MACC’s job of fighting corruption more effective. Last year, MACC arrested 467 civil servants on suspicion of corruption and power abuse with the majority of the offenders – 350 of them – being support staff.
