M3 growth slows, lending up in April


Growth in the country’s money supply slowed in April despite faster expansion in bank lending, the central bank reported on Friday. Domestic claims growth, meanwhile, picked up to 16.4 percent from March’s revised 14.5 percent on sustained bank lending. Outstanding loansBank lending growth, meanwhile, accelerated to 19.9 percent from March’s revised 18.5 percent. Including reverse repurchase placements (RRPs) with the central bank, growth picked up to 19.9 percent from the previous month’s 18.8 percent. Household consumption loan growth decelerated to 19 percent from March’s revised 19.8 percent.
