M&S plan to use garlic bread to reduce waste at shops extended to 200 stores

But rather than seeing French sticks and boules end up unsold after doors are closed to customers, M&S has come up with a new plan - turn it into frozen garlic bread instead. Starting at just eight locations, staff took unsold bread, then filled it with garlic butter and prepared it for the freezer. The reinvented garlic bread products are then sold as frozen with an extended shelf-life of 30 days – priced at £1 for a garlic baguette or £1.80 for a twin pack, and £2 for the garlic boule. And things went so well with customers, staff and management M&S has now decided to roll out it's bread preservation plan to all 200 stores. "By turning leftover loaves into frozen garlic bread, we’re not only creating delicious new products for family mealtimes, but we’re also helping to Spark Change together with our customers to significantly reduce waste."
