Lynn, Rangers shut out Rays

Lance Lynn pitched eight strong innings, and the visiting Texas Rangers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 5-0 on Friday night for their sixth straight win. Lynn (10-4) allowed three hits, struck out 10 and walked one while reaching double digits in wins for the seventh straight season. Nomar Mazara walked to open the Texas second. Texas added an unearned run on the third when Mazara walked and later scored from second base on a throwing error by Chirinos after an infield single by Joey Gallo. Willy Adames doubled off Lynn to open the eighth and reached third on a wild pitch with one out, but Lynn struck out Guillermo Heredia before Brandon Lowe popped out.
