CHENNAI: Luxury car brands are lining up electric vehicle plans for Indian roads even as hybrids get slapped with a high tax burden. Volvo Cars , for instance, is planning to roll out its global electric launch, due in 2019, in India as well. In future, all pure battery-powered vehicles from Mercedes-Benz will be included in the new brand for electric mobility `EQ',“ said Roland Folger, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India. The company's green drive strategy is a combination of efficient combustion engines, plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles with battery or fuel cell drive.Audi, too, is planning its electric future -both in India and globally . Meanwhile, BMW has already launched i8, though its global all-electric car i3 has not yet been launched here.
