The newly-appointed director of Beijing's liaison office, Luo Huining, said today the most pressing task for Hong Kong is still “stop violence, end chaos,” adding that it is also the consensus of people who truly love the city. He said the city is a pluralistic society and disagreements are normal, but warned that extremism and violence will bring disastrous damages to the society. Luo urged the “love country, love Hong Kong” forces to stay united and people from different sectors to work together and continue to support the SAR government. He also praised the bravery of the government and the police during critical moments.
