Lucknowites erupt in protest over Uri terror attack


LUCKNOW: A candle march was organized by the Mankameshwar Math Mandir to register its protest against the killing of 17 Army jawans early on Sunday morning in Uri sector of Kashmir. "During candle light march, those attending also prayed for the martyred soldiers who died in the terror attack," said Mahant Pujya Divyagiri of the Mankameshwar Math Mandir.She further stated that the march started from Hanuman Setu and passed through Parivartan Chowk and Shaheed Smarak. At Shaheed Smarak, a prayer meeting for the martyred soldiers was held and the visitors offered tributes to the soldiers. The firefight between the terrorists and Army personnel continued till approximately 0830 hours, during which four terrorists were killed. Of these, 13-14 casualties have been due to these tents/shelters having catching fire," the DGMO said in a statement.
