ADDIS ABABA – The Government has appointed the Commander of Ethiopian Air Force, Lt Gen Yilma Merdassa, as Chairperson of the Ethiopian Airlines Management Board, effective June 8, 2023. Lt Gen Yilma has been serving the Airline Group in the capacity of Management Board member for the last two and half years. “Ethiopian Airlines Group welcomes Lieutenant General Yilma Merdassa and wishes him success in his new role,” the carrier announced today. PM Abiy Ahmed (C) along with Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew (L) and chairman of the Group’s board of management Girma Wake (R). “His contribution to the growth and success of the Airline Group has been enormous and will take a special place in the history of the Group,” the airline said.
