Saying goodbye seems to be a common occurrence over the past few months as many restaurants deal with rising labor, real estate and food costs, but I’m happy to say hello to Erta Ale, the Ethiopian restaurant that took Kyatchi’s place. The menu is pretty typical for an Ethiopian restaurant — you can order meats or vegetable entrees or platters that feed multiple people of either or both. My favorite at any Ethiopian restaurant is always the vegetables, and the vegetarian platter here did not disappoint. Let’s hope more people find Erta Ale so we don’t have to say goodbye to another downtown St. Paul restaurant. Erta AleWhere: 308 E.
